The London Borough of Southwark, as part of the Governments Covid 19 initiative on social distancing and cycle way improvements are in the process of enhancing their existing cycle way infrastructure, with the latest section including Southwark Bridge Road. (CS7)

F M Conway are currently using the Scan Kerb on various sites throughout London for a number of the London Boroughs, and having experienced supply problems with other materials Scan Kerb was the obvious choice for this new section of CS7 cycle route. Two different kerbing solutions were used with the type B kerbs laid back to back with a concrete infill, to form a narrow island and our type MS kerb at 250mm wide used where they required a narrower kerbing solution.

Although F M Conway have used the type B Scan kerb before this was their first experience of our type MS kerb an ideal product for Cycle way applications, the MS kerb comes as a 500mm long x 250mmstraight unit (MS1) and a 500mm long ramp/end unit (MS9) the MS1 is also available with a through hole and steel sleeve arrangement for marker poles.

Conway, are delighted with the Scan Kerbs especially as it’s the first time they have used the Type MS, it installs just as quickly and easily as the standard B1, they are just waiting on a couple of the ramp kerbs to complete the work.

The overall appearance of the finished project is very good, the client London Borough of Southwark are pleased with the outcome and speed of installation to meet the Governments requirements and improve cycle safety in the Borough.
